Today’s meeting will be focused on revealing a special BMW racing project coming from Bulgaria.
Have you ever wondered how the racing world is like in Eastern Europe? If you did (and even if you didn’t), we’re more than happy to provide an answer.
It seems to be pretty simple. All you need is a teen with automotive wet dreams and a hefty amount of money (let’s just skip the part where we see how the money were obtained - a 9 to 5 job is obviously out of the question here). Then, the boy needs to be let loose and put in charge of a team of mechanics.
This is what seems to have happened in Bulgaria, where a teen racer decided that he must place a 5.0 liter V10 engine (the one from the outgoing BMW M5) under the hood of a BMW Z3 coupe, as 0-60mag.com reports.
There was a communication breakdown between us and the 18-year old racer boy’s website, but here’s what we got. His proper motorsport career started last year, with a BMW E30 M3 that used the 4,941 cc V8 engine from the E39 generation M5, pumped up to deliver 400 hp (stock) and 580 Nm of torque. Now, he’s back with the aforementioned creation, which delivers 530 hp and 600 Nm of torque to the rear wheels and comes packed with goodies such as a rollcage, Recaro seats, as well as racing shock absorbers and brakes.
So let’s see: We've got a stiffened BMW Z3 Coupe that has 30 more hp and 80 more Nm of torque more than an M5, but is 410 kg lighter. Pretty sweet by any standards, don’t you think? You can see the car's transformation in the gallery bellow.
