BMW’s new hot-rod M4 is no slow-poke, but it also isn’t the quickest of its family to make a lap at the Nordschleifer.
At least that’s the case according to Germany’s Auto Sport. The magazine managed to record a lap time in the new twin-turbo straight six sport coupe that puts it on par with a Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4, but it isn’t good enough to beat the E46 M3 CSL. As you may know, BMW produced a limited number of lightweight E46 M3s designed to put performance ahead of comfort. In 2003, Auto Sport clocked a 7:50 lap time in that car.
On the other hand, the new Bimmer is still supposedly faster than the previous generation Porsche 911 Turbo, Ferrari F430 and the Dodge Viper SRT-10 to name a few. The 2015 M4 would also be a much more comfortable way to get around the Nurburgring – or any other ring for that matter – than the E46 M3 CSL.
